Developing education and application cases for quantum computing within the group... Joint project with 'IBM Quantum'
Doosan Digital Innovation (CEO Justin Park, hereinafter DDI) announced that it held a 'Quantum Accelerator Program Kick-off' event at Doosan Tower in Bundang on the 20th.
This event was organized by DDI's Digital Headquarters (Head of Corporate Digital, HoD), which is responsible for Doosan Group's IT and DT strategy. About 40 people participated online and offline, including △DDI President Justin Park △Doosan HoD and DDI COO Vice President Robert Oh △Doosan affiliate executives △Digital executives △Quantum training personnel. Project partners △IBM Korea President Lee Eun-joo and △IBM Research Vice President Jason Silbergleit also attended.
The event was arranged to kick off the 'Quantum Accelerator' education for quantum computing personnel training within Doosan Group, as well as to discover and research business cases. IBM, which has developed its own quantum computer and possesses related technology, was selected as the project partner.
Quantum computing is a computer paradigm that approaches problems where various variables interact complexly by utilizing the random and unpredictable characteristics of quantum mechanics in nature, unlike conventional computing. It is known to contribute to performance improvement in △encryption △security △AI △machine learning △simulation △optimization, etc.
Recently, there has been an increase in cases of global companies introducing quantum computing technology for △new material development △product performance improvement △financial engineering, etc. In Korea, some companies have started to introduce and research quantum computing, and Doosan has also been proactively preparing for the quantum computing era since 2022 by establishing a quantum computing introduction strategy and discovering numerous use cases.
Vice President Robert Oh said in his greeting, "I thank the leaders and members who have shown interest and participated in the training of Doosan Group's quantum computing personnel," and urged, "Please take an active interest and support in internalizing quantum computing capabilities, which is a future digital leading technology."
After hearing IBM Korea President Lee Eun-joo's words of thanks, they shared △the necessity and vision of quantum computing technology △the 'Quantum Accelerator' curriculum △progress plans, etc. They also delivered appointment letters to Doosan quantum training personnel participating in the project and took commemorative photos.
President Justin Park said in his closing remarks, "Now is the right time to prepare for quantum, a future technology," and urged, "Please do your best with pride as this is a good opportunity for personal and company development."
Meanwhile, Doosan plans to continue research on detailed demonstration cases discovered in line with its quantum computing introduction strategy based on the training of quantum computing specialists.
